Lever's Histopathology of the Skin, 10th ed. 2008

.

Lever's Histopathology of the Skin, 10th ed.
David E. Elder, Rosalie Elenitsas, Bernett Johnson, George Murphy,
ISBN-10: 0-7817-7363-6
ISBN-13: 978-0-7817-7363-8

Lever's Histopathology of the Skin is a classic, comprehensive work that has been used by generations of dermatopathologists, pathologists, and dermatologists to further their knowledge, in their current practices, and in the training of their students. The pathophysiologic organization is based on Walter Lever's original scheme, with appropriate modifications over the years, and is more efficient than the pattern method, since related entities are discussed in juxtaposition.

This edition contains over 1,400 full-color illustrations, including photomicrographs and clinical photographs of diseases not covered in previous editions. The chapter on algorithmic pattern recognition has been expanded and extensively cross-referenced to the chapters on diseases to aid readers in generating differential diagnoses for unknown cases.

Diagnostic Pitfalls in Histopathology and Cytopathology Practice, 1st ed. 2002

Diagnostic Pitfalls in Histopathology and Cytopathology Practice.
Peter P. Anthony,
ISBN-10: 1900151812
ISBN-13: 9781900151818

In the light of increased awareness of the legal as well as clinical implications of misdiagnosis of pathological specimens, this book provides the trainee and practising histo- and cytopathologist with a comprehensive review of the potential pitfalls encountered in a number of key diagnostic areas (cervical screening, breast cancer screening, pigmented lesions of the skin, lymphoproliferative disease, disease of the gastrointestinal tract and disease of the genito-urinary system). Each chapter has been written by a recognised expert in the organ or organ system concerned and, with the aid of full colour histo- and cytopathological specimens throughout, outlines the most important diagnostic and differential diagnostic features and indicates not only where confident diagnosis can sometimes prove problematic, but also how best to avoid these potential pitfalls in the first instance.

The Cytology of Soft Tissue Tumours, 2003

The Cytology of Soft Tissue Tumours
(Monographs in Clinical Cytology)
M. Akerman, Henryk A. Domanski, Rydholm. Anders, Brigitta Carlen
ISBN-10: 3805575947
ISBN-13: 978-3805575942

In the last few years, the primary diagnosis of soft tissue tumours has emerged as an important new target for fine needle aspiration (FNA). The purpose of this book is to facilitate the cytological evaluation of FNA smears from soft tissue tumours and to suggest cytological criteria for histotype diagnoses. Its primary aim is to describe and illustrate not only the most common types but also those rare tumours where cytological features have been largely described in case reports and in small series. The diagnostic use of ancillary methods is discussed and illustrated, and, in order to facilitate the diagnostic work-up in FNA samples, smears are also classified according to their principal microscopic patterns. The selection of entities presented, their diagnostic features and differential diagnostic considerations are mainly based on the experience with FNA in the primary diagnosis of soft tissue tumours in patients referred to the Musculoskeletal Tumour Centre.
